d-cypha SFE: Electricity Futures And Options Volume Set New Daily Record

d-cypha SFE Australian Electicity contracts set a new daily record of 2,422 contracts*. This equates to 5.1 million MWh of daily turnover with a face value of approximately $311 million, exceeding the previous record face value by 163% (set January 18th 2007). Open Interest increased by 824 futures contracts and 80 calendar options contracts to make 33,678 contracts of open interest with a face value of $4.5 billion (COB 2/05/07). Interestingly, face value of open interest has risen by 150% since the beginning of the year (COB 2/01/07).
