Dalian Commodity Exchange Organizes Selection Of Coal, Coke Futures Researchers

Date 04/09/2013

With the listing and successful operation of the futures products of coking coal and coke, more and more industrial clients have paid attention to and participated in the futures market, starting to use the functions of the futures market to facilitate the business of the enterprises. In order to further promote the support of domestic futures companies for coal and coke analysts and expand the exchanges between the analysts, Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) will officially organize the selections of coal and coke futures researchers from September 2 to December 30.

The selections will be conducted in two phases, with the first phase from September 1 to October 30 and the second phase from November 1 to December 30. Up to now, a total of 214 researchers from 90 futures companies have registered for participation.

Since the listing of the coke and coking coal futures in April 2011 and March 2013 respectively, the market has seen stable operation and there have been cases of some enterprises successfully using the futures for hedging, which have drawn more and more enterprises on the industrial chain to pay attention to and participate in the futures market. Accordingly, the extensive participation of the industrial enterprises has posed higher demand for the researchers of futures companies, and as a result of the restrictions such as the listing of the coke and coking coal futures for a short time and the inadequate R & D professionals in futures companies, it is urgent for the futures market to step up and deepen the service for the coal and coke industry.

According to an official of DCE, mainly organized for the coking coal and coke analysts of the futures companies, the selections feature grading the analysts in the level of writing R & D supports, the performance in the simulated trading and other aspects, which will be openly displayed on DCE’s “platform for serving industries and supporting R & D”. The selections will urge the futures companies to attach importance to the analysts of the coal and coke industry, so as to train a number of high-level professionals with both industrial and futures knowledge for the market, improve the research in the futures products of coking coal and coke in China, deepen the service for the coal and coke industry, and promote the integration of the futures and spot markets.
