CME Appoints Oliver As Director, Business Development – Intellectual Property

CME, the world’s largest and most diverse financial exchange, today announced that it has appointed Brian Oliver as Director, Business Development - Intellectual Property.

Oliver, 36, will be responsible for further developing CME’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio and actively managing CME’s IP interests in new and existing business lines. He will work closely with CME IP Counsel, as well as the Technology and Products & Services Divisions, to develop an overall intellectual property strategy for the company. He will report to Ann Shuman, Managing Director, Corporate Development.

Oliver has more than ten years of experience in intellectual property strategy and valuation. He most recently served as Vice President for CRA International, an economics, finance and business consulting firm. At CRA, Brian was responsible for representing clients in all aspects of IP-driven transactions and improving IP business operations. While at CRA, Brian worked on several projects for CME, including the successful renegotiation of the company’s Standard & Poor’s license agreement. In addition to CRA, his experience includes investment banking and corporate finance.

Oliver earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Indiana University and an MBA degree in finance, management, strategy and entrepreneurship from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
