Clearstream's Core Business For July 2007

Clearstream processed 2.45 million international transactions in July 2007, a 53 percent rise over July 2006 (1.60 million). Of these transactions, 77 percent were Over the Counter (OTC) transactions and 23 percent were registered as stock exchange transactions. Domestic settlement transactions in Germany stood at 4.02 million compared to 2.59 million for the same month last year (a rise of 55 percent). Of these transactions 69 percent were stock exchange transactions and 31 percent OTC transactions.

The value of assets under custody on behalf of customers rose to a new high of € 10.5 trillion, a 16 percent rise from July 2006 (€ 9.1 trillion). Securities held under custody in Clearstream's international business experienced a rise of 17 percent from € 4.1 trillion to € 4.8 trillion. On the domestic German business, securities held under custody rose by 15 percent from € 5.0 trillion to € 5.7 trillion.

For the Global Securities Financing services monthly average outstandings reached € 325.76 billion. The combined services, which includes triparty repo, securities lending and collateral management, collectively experienced a strong rise of over 27 percent from the same month last year (July 2006: € 255.31 billion).

The Investment Funds services processed 372,421 transactions in July, 52 percent more than a year ago (July 2006: 244,316).
