Clearstream’s Core Business Continues Its Growth In September 2007

Clearstream processed 2.02 million international transactions in September 2007, a 16 percent rise over September 2006 (1.75 million). Of these transactions, 81 percent were Over the Counter (OTC) transactions and 19 percent were registered as stock exchange transactions. Domestic settlement transactions in Germany stood at 3.14 million compared to 2.63 million for the same month last year (a rise of 19 percent). Of these transactions 66 percent were stock exchange transactions and 34 percent OTC transactions.

The value of assets under custody on behalf of customers rose to €10.6 trillion, a 13 percent rise from September 2006 (€9.3 trillion). Securities held under custody in Clearstream’s international business experienced a rise of 13 percent from €4.2 trillion to € 4.8 trillion. On the domestic German business, securities held under custody rose by 13 percent from €5.1 trillion to €5.8 trillion.

For the Global Securities Financing services monthly average outstandings reached € 325.0 billion. The combined services, which includes triparty repo, securities lending and collateral management, collectively experienced a strong rise of almost 21 percent from the same month last year (September 2006: €268.76 billion).

The Investment Funds services processed 298,769 transactions in September, almost 22 percent more than a year ago (September 2006: 243,399).
