CISI CEO Presents Maltese Financial Services Community With Some Ethical Dilemmas

Date 04/04/2011

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments’ (CISI) Chief Executive Simon Culhane Chartered FCSI will be visiting the island on 7 April to present the Maltese financial services community with a series of ethical dilemmas.

Mr Culhane will be leading an Integrity at Work seminar as part of Finance Malta’s new series of educational clinics.

The seminar is a lively, interactive workshop which focuses on the challenges posed by real business dilemmas. Drawing on four genuine case studies, attendees will be invited to decide their live responses to each situation by using small, hand-held voting devices.

Based in the City of London, the CISI is a global organisation with representative offices in Dublin, Singapore, Dubai, Mumbai and Colombo. It works closely in cooperation with regulators, firms and other professional bodies worldwide and is in the process of establishing a CISI National Advisory Council (NAC) for Malta. Mr Alex Bustos-Baez Chartered MCSI has been appointed the CISI President for this NAC.

Some of the CISI’s key qualifications have been approved by the Malta Qualifications Council as appropriate for those working in the Maltese investment industry including the Islamic Finance Qualification, Certificates suite and Investment Operations Certificate.

The CISI is working closely with ifsMalta to promote its Certificate and Operations exam suites to those sitting self-study qualifications and has also accredited, the Malta Institute of Management (MIM) to train for some of its core global programmes.

Mr Culhane said: “We are very pleased to be invited by FinanceMalta to offer our insight to the ethics and integrity debate, which is integral to CISI’s mission and to the continuing professional development of our global membership.”
