Christian Katz New President Of FESE

Date 20/11/2013

The Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) unanimously elected the CEO of SIX Swiss Exchange as President for three years.

Christian Katz, CEO of SIX Swiss Exchange and Member of the Group Executive Board of SIX, has become the first Swiss national to be elected president by the General Assembly of the Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE).

Christian Katz thanked FESE for his appointment and is looking forward to his future tasks: "The European capital markets face big challenges. If we, as stock exchange and infrastructure providers, are to strengthen them further in an environment of rapidly increasing regulatory requirements, the structures must be changed carefully and prudently. We want to tackle this in close collaboration with the regulators and representatives of the financial sector."

FESE represents 41 regulated exchanges in 30 European countries. Its objectives are to foster the global competitiveness of European exchanges and to reinforce the key importance of the exchanges for the European and global economy.

Strong global network

Urs Rüegsegger, Group CEO SIX, congratulated Christian Katz on his appointment, which is not only reflecting his outstanding record as CEO of SIX Swiss Exchange, but also the significance of SIX as a globally active company with international networks. In the previous year, FESE already appointed a representative of SIX Swiss Exchange by electing Ian Cornwall as new Chair of its Management Committee.
