Chicago Climate Futures Exchange® (CCFE®) announced today a record trading volume for the month of June. As of Friday, June 19, CCFE traded 133,175 contracts month-to-date as compared to the previous record of 132,319 in the entire month of April 2009.
Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) futures and options contracts, which first launched in August 2008, have already traded a record volume of 100,138 contracts on the CCFE in June of 2009 compared with 52,955 contracts in all of May 2009. Additionally, total open interest on the CCFE hit a record high of 152,480 contracts on June 11, 2009, representing a 148 percent increase from the 61,420 contracts of open interest at the end of 2008.
