CFA Egypt Organizes fFr The First Time In Egypt the 'Regional Research Competition' At The Historic Headquarters Of The Egyptian Exchange… With The Participation Of 9 Countries

The Saudi team, representative of CFA Society Saudi Arabia, won the first place in the CFA Regional Research Competition, organized for the first time in Egypt by the Egyptian Society of investment Professionals (CFA Egypt) at the historic headquarters of EGX Down Town Cairo with the participation of university teams from 9 countries. The team from Cyprus got the second place, and the team of Greece is the third. This is after a strong competition and specialized financial analysis presentations delivered by the teams in front of a committee of investment and finance experts.

Mr. Omar Radwan, CFA, EGX Executive Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Sabry, EGX Vice Chairman, Mr. Ashraf El-Khatib, CFA, Chairman of the Board of CFA Egypt, as well as members of the board and representatives of participating CFA societies, along with a selected group of financial market leaders and investment decision makers attended the event.

The competition included 9 university teams representing CFA Societies from: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab of Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Russia, Greece and Cyprus. This reflects the wide regional and international nature of contest and it’s importance in enhancing expertise exchange and building professional networks among promising talents.

Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, delivered a recorded speech to the participants in the Regional Investment Research competition, organized by the CFA Egypt and hosted by EGX.

Dr. Mohamed Farid expressed that Egypt is proud to host this important regional event. He pointed to his constant keenness to be present and participate in the activities of the competition at different stages of his professional career, whether during his work in the private sector, or while chairing EGX, and then the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), up to his current position being the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade.

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade emphasized that practical competitions serves as a vital bridge to connect academic knowledge with labor market requirements including skills, expertise, experiences and tools. He emphasized that continuous learning and practical training are the main foundation to build strong research capabilities in the field of finance and investment, enhancing sustainable growth of the Egyptian economy.

The minister said: Amidst the rapid technological development, we will always be in urgent need of knowledge, expertise and practical training for youth participating in such challenges, to provide finance and investment sector with skilled human resources qualified and capable of making a difference.

The minister of Investment and Foreign Trade added that the nature of finance and investment fields became deeper and more detailed than before, which requires having professional sense and practical understanding, besides the academic knowledge.

He clarified saying: “financial analysis is not limited to just equations and numbers, it is related to logic and accurate understanding of managing companies and assets. As human wise management leads investments to achieve success.”

< p>Dr. Mohamed Farid congratulated EGX management for hosting this regional event, emphasizing that all the participating teams won what they gained of practical expertise, opportunities of connecting and interacting with investment and finance community during this event.

The minister expressed his hope to continue supporting such initiatives, which contribute to develop youth skills and qualify specialized people in the fields of finance and investment, enhancing Egypt’s position as a regional hub for attracting and qualifying investment talents.

 

From his side, Mr. Omar Radwan, CFA, EGX Executive Chairman, emphasized that hosting this event at EGX historic headquarters reflects EGX’s role in qualifying talents and connecting skills with real work environment. He added, “Objective evaluation and accurate technical research are the foundation of transparent financial markets. This competition is a real experience that mirrors practicing investment management and adherence to professional ethics promoted by CFA”.

Omar Radwan continued: “our vision for developing the market at EGX focuses on putting the human capital at the heart of the system. Despite the great importance of the advanced infrastructure, modern trading systems, and legislative reforms, still the ultimate value depends on the efficiency and professionalism of the teams who read the data, evaluate assets, and advice investors.”

Mr. Ashraf El-Khateeb, CFA, Chairman of the Board of CFA Society Egypt, stated that organizing the competition in Cairo reflects its role as a pivotal platform supporting the coming generation of investment analysts, establishing standards of professional financial analysis on the regional level.

Ashraf El-Khateeb pointed out to the increasing competitiveness of labor market worldwide and readiness of the teams to enter it after completing practical training and being familiar with the best global practices in professional ethics and excellence.

El-Khateeb encouraged the participants to connect with each other to start building lasting professional relations, and urged them to involve in professional volunteer work and continue their connection with CFA society in the future.

The event included presentations of the competing teams analytical researches and investment recommendations to listed companies in front of a committee of selected experts: Bianca Flowers, CFA, Jamil Anz, CFA, Mustafa Al Qalyoubi, and Mohamed El-Nabrawi, CFA.

The event wrapped up with announcing the results and taking official photos of the winning and participating teams at EGX trading bell hall, amidst CFA Egypt praising the fruitful collaboration with EGX and the annual partners of the association.
