As part of its work to promote supervisory convergence, CESR has published today a series of supervisory briefings on key elements of MiFID: conflicts of interest, best execution and inducements. The briefings have been designed for supervisors, summarising the main content of the rules, and explaining the associated objectives and outcomes. The focus is on making MiFID provisions more accessible to the staff of CESR Members conducting supervisory work, rather than covering matters of interpretation, which are dealt with through CESR’s Q&A facility and its recommendations and guidelines. By publishing these supervisory briefings, CESR is delivering on its commitment to make supervisory convergence a priority in terms of its Level 3 work on MiFID.
