CBOT Mini-Sized Dow Futures Set Daily Volume Record As Total Surpasses Previous High By 21 Percent - Exchange Also Sets Volume Record In Equity Index Complex

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that its $5 mini-sized Dow Jones^sm futures contract set a record on Thursday, as volume climbed to 263,844 contracts at the close of trading.  The new record topped the previous record of 218,495, set on May 24, 2006, by 21 percent.

The record for the mini-sized Dow^sm contract led to a daily volume record in the CBOT Equity Index complex, as 299,242 futures and options contracts changed hands yesterday.  The prior record, 232,565 contracts, was also set on May 24.  The CBOT Equity Index complex includes $5, $10 and $25 Dow Jones futures contracts as well as $5 and $10 Dow Jones options on futures contracts.
