The Chicago Board Options Exchange® (CBOE®) has been named “Best Volatility Trading Platform - Global 2015” byCapital Finance International magazine. This is the fifth industry award CBOE has received in 2015.
The CFI.co Awards 2015 honor individuals and companies throughout the world for their contributions to the global economy during the year. In granting the award, the CFI judging panel noted that “the creation of the VIX Index, now considered the world’s barometer of equity market volatility, led to the launch of VIX futures at CFE [CBOE Futures Exchange] in 2004 and VIX options at CBOE in 2006. The VIX Index and VIX options and futures are the centerpieces of CBOE Holdings’ expanding volatility franchise, which includes more than three dozen products and is a pipeline for continued innovation.”
CFI continued: “indeed, the acceptance of the VIX Index as a proxy for global volatility and the phenomenal growth in the trading volumes of VIX options and futures has fueled the emergence of volatility as a new asset class.” CFI also cited the recently expanded trading hours for VIX products, as well as CBOE’s educational initiatives, in naming CBOE the “Best Volatility Trading Platform.”

In addition to being recognized as the “Best Volatility Trading Platform - Global 2015,” CBOE was named “Derivatives Exchange of the Year - Americas” at theGlobalCapital Americas Derivatives Awards 2015 in May, “Best Options Trading Venue” and “Best Mobile Application” at the Wall Street Letter Institutional Trading Awards 2015 and “Best Options Exchange” at the Markets Media Markets Choice Awards 2015 in February.
As a leader in options and volatility product innovation, trading technology and investor education, CBOE has consistently received industry awards over the past decade, totaling nearly three dozen in areas such as leadership and new product and technology development.
