CBOE New Mini Index Contract, MNX, Volume Exceeds Expectations

Date 24/08/2000

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) yesterday reported volume in the new Mini-NDX index, MNXSM, was 19,496 contracts with open interest of 58,509 contracts at the close of trading on Tuesday. The MNX index, launched just ten days ago, is 1/10th the value of the Nasdaq-100 Index (NDX) which also trades exclusively at the CBOE.

Average daily volume in the MNX has been 12,697 contracts since the first day of trading on Monday, August 14, 2000, making MNX the third most actively traded index at CBOE.

The MNX index was developed to provide investors of all sizes a smaller, more affordable version of the very popular Nasdaq-100 Index. More information about the MNX and trading strategies can be found at the CBOE website at http://www.cboe.com/mnx/.

CBOE, the world's largest options marketplace and the creator of listed options, is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). For additional information about the CBOE and its products, access the CBOE site on the World Wide Web at http://www.cboe.com.
