The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that The Options Institute - the educational arm of CBOE, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in April - this month unveils the first of three ten-week comprehensive educational programs for investors with varying levels of options experience.
"By expanding the length and breadth of options instruction, our new Options Institute Plus program is intended to give students new competencies and the confidence to incorporate practical options strategies into their investment portfolios," Debra Peters, Vice President of The Options Institute, said. "Nearly one year in planning, this program is the result of talking with students over the years to learn their educational preferences. Many expressed the need for a sustained, comprehensive program, and that's what Options Institute Plus aims to deliver."
Before classes begin, Options Institute Plus students will have access to online courses for review. The program features two full days of classroom instruction and eight weeks of instructor-led webcasts in which students delve more deeply into a variety of key options topics geared to their options experience.
To make the classes more accessible in a virtual world, CBOE has installed a webcast system in its Chicago classroom, giving students the choice of taking the two full-day classes either live online or in the classroom.
All sessions are archived to allow students the opportunity for review. Private discussion boards allow instructors to post homework assignments, quizzes and exams, and let students pose questions to instructors throughout the program.
"It's a rigorous program which we think will immerse and engage people in the options education process and help them move forward to reach their goal of trading options successfully," said Peters. "We're pleased to be able to take this next step in options education."
