CBOE: DJX Sets Another Single-Day Volume Record

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that a single-day volume record for trading options on the Dow Jones Industrial AverageSM (DJX) was established on Friday, April 20, when a total of 117,337 contracts (54,449 calls and 62,888 puts) traded.

This is the second time this month that DJX volume has exceeded 100,000 contracts in a single day. Last Friday's volume surpassed the previous record of 106, 346 contracts, set on Thursday, April 12, 2001. Total index volume has increased in the last few months, as investors turn to broad-based indexes during times of market uncertainty.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a price-weighted index composed of 30 of the largest, most liquid NYSE and NASDAQ listed stocks. DJX began trading exclusively at CBOE in October 1997.
