Carbon Disclosure Project Appoints Paul Simpson As CEO

Date 06/10/2010

As part of its continued expansion, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has appointed Paul Simpson to the position of chief executive officer.

An independent, not-for-profit organisation, CDP is the premier global scorekeeper on carbon emissions and gathers primary corporate climate change information from thousands of businesses around the world. Paul Simpson is promoted to the role of CEO having previously held the post of chief operating officer. He will replace Paul Dickinson who has moved to the position of executive chairman of CDP, maintaining supervision of the board and spending time working with other entities to maximize CDP’s impact around the world.

Paul Simpson brings considerable operational management expertise to drive forward CDP with a focus on globalizing CDP’s programmes in all major economies, increasing the quality of data reported by companies and accelerating the business response to mitigate climate change.

“Over the last ten years CDP has catalysed a dramatic increase in the measurement, reporting and management of climate change impacts by corporations”, says Simpson. “As we embark on the next ten years, I look forward to continuing to progress transparency and accountability for carbon and water, increase access to high quality data and further advance emissions reductions and more efficient use of water around the world.”

Simpson has been with CDP for nine and a half years. He has previously worked with Chesham Amalgamations & Investments Ltd, the International Society for Ecology & Culture and is a former director of the Social Venture Network. He also sits on the board of EIRIS.
