CalPERS Names Brad W. Pacheco Deputy Executive Officer For Communications & Stakeholder Relations

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) has appointed Brad W. Pacheco as its new Deputy Executive Officer for Communications & Stakeholder Relations.

Pacheco will provide leadership and counsel to the Board and executive staff for CalPERS functions of communications and stakeholder outreach. This will include oversight of external and internal communications, including the digital content and overall communications strategy for the main CalPERS and my|CalPERS websites, social media, video, visual design, and media relations. He will also direct activities that connect CalPERS staff to leadership of key stakeholder groups, ensure the development and maintenance of strong stakeholder partnerships, and execute conferences and events.

He will begin his role effective today and will report to Anne Stausboll, CalPERS Chief Executive Officer.

"Brad has served CalPERS for nearly 20 years and is a well-seasoned communications professional," said Stausboll. "We welcome him to our executive team and look forward to his leadership in the areas of communications and stakeholder relations that support our members, employers and our employees."

Pacheco joined CalPERS in 1995. He has been serving as Chief of its Public Affairs Office for the last six years, and has also served in a number of other capacities including Assistant Chief of Public Affairs and media specialist for CalPERS investments and corporate governance programs.

In 2014, he was recognized by the State Information Officers Council with a lifetime achievement award.

Pacheco received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Communications from the University of California, Davis.
