Total number of listed companies on CASE in September 2007 decreased to 515 companies as opposed to 523 in the previous month.
There were two new listed companies this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 165 million (LE 924 million).
Turnover
Total number of trading days in September 2007 amounted to 21 days with total value traded of US$ 5,853 million (LE 32,778 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 5,221 million (LE 29,239 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 86.64%, 13.36% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 632 million (LE 3,539 million), which represents 11% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to August 2007, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 4,584 million (LE 26,127 million), of which shares represented 88.67%, 11.33% and 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 166 million (LE 949 million) i.e. 4% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$4,750 million (LE27,075 million).
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 822 million securities.
During September 2007, 743,259 transactions were concluded with an average of 35,393 trades per day, as opposed to 898,605 transactions and an average of 40,846 trades per day in August 2007.
Indices
CASE 30 price index, the official market index, witnessed a 12.12% increase in September 2007 to reach 8,688 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 34.80%.
Likewise, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 11.83% increase in September, to close at 1840 points 30/9/2007, and a 28.01% increase on a YoY basis.

During the month of September, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) ALKAN PHARMA (+1608%), Misr Glass Manufacturing Co. (+1000%), Arab Investment Urbanization (+151%), Naeem Financial Investments (+150 %) and National Glass & Crystal Co. (+98%).
The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) TransOceans Tours (-33%), National Housing for Professional Syndicates (-31%), Egyptian Real Estate (-24%), Delta Construction & Rebuilding (-20%) and Egyptian Sponge (-18%).
Market Capitalization
Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 115.3 billion (LE 645.6 billion) as of end of September 2007 compared to US$ 108.6 billion (LE 618.8 billion) in August 2007, representing a 4.3% increase.
The bond capitalization recorded US$ 709 million (LE 4 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 11 billion (LE 61 billion) for government bonds at the end of September 2007 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).
Foreign Participation
In September 2007, foreign investors participated with 24.89% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 238 million (LE 1,335 million).
