Cairo & Alexandria Stock Exchanges Monthly Statistical Report October 2007

Total number of listed companies on CASE in October 2007 decreased to 512 companies as opposed to 515 in the previous month.

There were two new listed companies this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 20 million (LE 108 million).

Total number of trading days in October 2007 amounted to 20 days with total value traded of US$ 7,912 million (LE 43,753 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 7,440 million (LE 41,142 million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 97.75%, 2.25% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 472 million (LE 2,611 million), which represents 6% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to September 2007, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 5,221 million (LE 29,239 million), of which shares represented 86.64%, bonds 13.36% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 632 million (LE 3,539 million) i.e. 11% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$ 5,853 million (LE 32,778 million).

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 1,041.35 million securities.

During October 2007, 825,955 transactions were concluded with an average of 41,298 trades per day, as opposed to 743,259 transactions and an average of 35,393 trades per day in September 2007.

CASE 30 price index, the official market index, witnessed an 8.09% increase in October 2007 to reach 9390.86 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 42.08%.

Likewise, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed an 8.65% increase in October, to close at 1999.09 points 31/10/2007, and a 36.74% increase on a YoY basis.

The ten most active stocks represented 28.69% of the total value & 51.67% of the total volume of shares traded for the month.

During the month of October, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Semiramis Hotels (+1106%), Sokhna Port

Development Company (+300%), Alexandria Urban Projects (+155%), Ismailia National Food Industries (+121%) and San Stefano Real Estate (+101%).

The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) International Co. for Investment & Development (-40%), Arab Investment Urbanization (-33%), Gharbia Islamic Housing Development (-30%), General Company for Land Reclamation, Development & Reconstruction (-26%) and National Housing for Professional Syndicates (-23%).

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 125.9 billion (LE 696.5 billion) as of end of October 2007 compared to US$ 115.3 billion (LE 645.6 billion) in September 2007, representing a 7.9% increase.

The bond capitalization recorded US$ 655 million (LE 3.6 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 11 billion (LE 63.5 billion) for government bonds at the end of October 2007 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

In October 2007, foreign investors participated with 28.57% of the total market value traded with a net outflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 1,143 million (LE 6,321 million).
