There was one new listed company this month, with a total capitalization of US$ 3.69 billion (LE 20.30 billion).
Turnover
Total number of trading days in November 2007 amounted to 21 days with total value traded of US$ 9,699 million (LE 53,346 million). Value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 6,977 million (LE 38,374million), of which shares, bonds and funds represented 97.70%, 2.30% and 0.00%, respectively. Unlisted securities i.e. Over the Counter trading reached US$ 2,722 million (LE 14,972 million), which represents 28% of total value traded for the month.
This is in comparison to October 2007, when value traded of listed securities amounted to US$ 7,440 million (LE 41,142 million), of which shares represented 97.75%, bonds 2.25% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to US$ 472 million (LE 2,611 million) i.e. 6% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached US$ 7,912 million (LE 43,753 million).
Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 1,686.22 million securities.
During November 2007, 950,924 transactions were concluded with an average of 45,282 trades per day, as opposed to 825,955 transactions and an average of 41,298 trades per day in October 2007.
Indices
CASE 30 price index, the official market index, witnessed a 3.52% increase in November 2007 to reach 9721.68 points and witnessed a YoY increase of 48.18%.
Likewise, the Dow Jones CASE Egypt Titans 20 index witnessed a 2.52% increase in November, to close at 2049.49 points 29/11/2007, and a 40.87% increase on a YoY basis.
Price Movements of Selected Shares
The ten most active stocks represented 45.04% of the total value & 57.07% of the total volume of shares traded for the month.
During the month of November, the top five gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) El Rasheedy Mezan Confectionary Factories (+1,882 %), Egyptian Container Handling (+1,019%), The Arab Dairy Products Co. ARAB DAIRY (+576%), Delta Securities Egypt (+126%) and Arab Aluminum (+55%).
The top five losers were (in ascending order of price change) Alexandria Medical Services (-41%), Egyptian Electrical Cables (-36%), Egyptian Real Estate Group (-34%), Souhag National Food Industries (-30%) and El Wadi for Exporting Agricultural Products (-29%).
Market Capitalization
Total market capitalization of shares amounted to US$ 131.8 billion (LE 725.1 billion) as of end of November 2007 compared to US$ 125.9 billion (LE 696.5 billion) in October 2007, representing a 4.1% increase.
The bond capitalization recorded US$ 642.2 million (LE 3.5 billion) for corporate bonds and US$ 11.8 billion (LE 65.1 billion) for government bonds at the end of November 2007 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).
Foreign Participation
In November 2007, foreign investors participated with 42.01% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling US$ 411 million (LE 2,258 million).
