Listing

Total number of listed companies on CASE in July 2006 decreased to 649 companies as opposed to 656 in the previous month.

There was four new listed companies this month, with a total capitalization of LE 125 million.

Turnover

Total number of trading days in July 2006 amounted to 21 days with total value traded of LE 19,816.39 million. Value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 19,007.41 million, of which shares, bonds and funds represented 97.44%, 2.56% and 0.00%, respectively. On the other hand, OTC trading reached LE 808.98 million, which represents 4% of total value traded for the month.

This is in comparison to June 2006, when value traded of listed securities amounted to LE 11,835.64 million, of which shares represented 90.94%, bonds 9.06% and funds 0.00%. In addition, the OTC trading amounted to LE 562.28 million i.e. 5% of total trading (on- and off-exchange trading) which reached LE 12,397.92 million.

Total volume traded of listed securities market for this month reached 755.13 million securities.

During July 2006, 654,830 transactions were concluded with an average of 31,182 trades per day, as opposed to 406,294 transactions and an average of 19,347 trades per day in June 2006.

Indices

CASE 30 Price index, the official market index, witnessed a 18.89% increase in July 2006 to reach 5674.44 points and witnessed a 17.23% increase on YoY.

However, the MSCI Egypt index witnessed a 16.23% increase in July, to close at 660.929 points on 31/07/2006, and a 14.83% increase on a YoY basis.

Price Movements of Selected Shares

The ten most active stocks represented 86.63% of the total volume of shares traded and 80.59% of total value of shares traded for the month.

During the month of July, the top ten gainers, on the official CASE market, were (in descending order of price change) Egyptian Fibres (+1964%), Moquette mac (+945%), Alexandria Commercial & Maritime Bank (+92%), South Valley Cement (+92%), El Ezz Steel Rebars (+65%), Egyptian Financial Group-Hermes Holding Company (+57%), National Development Bank (+54%), El Ezz Porcelain (Gemma) (+53%), Arab Cotton Ginning (+45%) and Mena Touristic & Real Estate Investment (+42%).

The top ten losers were (in ascending order of price change) Nile Matches (-26%), Egyptians Abroad for Investment & Development (-13%), Development & Engineering Consultants (-9%), Calyon Bank Egypt (-9%), Arab Ceramics (Aracemco) (-8%), ASEC For Cement Co. (-8%), Amoun (-5%), Arab Real Estate Investment (ALCO) (-5%), Misr Hotels (Hilton) (-5%) and Alexandria Cement (-5%).

Market Capitalization

Total market capitalization of shares amounted to LE 426.58 billion as of end of July 2006 compared to LE 377.07 billion in June 2006, representing a 13.1% increase.

The bond capitalization recorded LE 5.59 billion for corporate bonds and LE 60.12 billion for government bonds at the end of July 2006 (Including Treasury Bonds according to Primary Dealers System).

Foreign Participation

In July 2006, foreign investors participated with 19.98% of the total market value traded with a net inflow of portfolio foreign investment totaling LE 304 million.
