Bursa Malaysia's Inaugural Business Sustainability Programme To Emphasise The Importance Of Sustainability Practices In Driving Business Value

Bursa Malaysia will be launching its inaugural Business Sustainability Programme on 23 November 2010 with the primary aim to emphasise the significance of sustainability practices in driving business value. This programme, which is aimed at Corporate Malaysia, is expected to be officiated by YAB Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia with a keynote address.

Bursa Malaysia views sustainability as an integral element in building a capital market of quality and integrity, hence this comprehensive programme will augur well towards raising the bar in terms of sustainability practices and reporting by listed companies. The Business Sustainability Programme is also in line with the Exchange's continuous efforts to enhance the competitiveness and attractiveness of Bursa Malaysia as a listing and investment destination.

Targeted at listed companies, this Business Sustainability Programme will consist of initiatives and tools that can be used across many sectors. At the launch, panel sessions are also scheduled to give further insight on sustainable business practices. The panel sessions will feature constructive discussions between prominent corporate figures and advocators of sustainability.
