Bursa Malaysia And SIAS Research Showcase Malaysian Public Listed Companies To Singapore Investors

Date 06/11/2008

Securities Investors Association Singapore (SIAS) is organising a retail investment seminar themed Malaysia Day 2008 which is aimed at generating Singaporean investor interest to Malaysian listed securities. The event, sponsored by Bursa Malaysia Berhad for the third year running, will be held at The Rock Auditorium on 8th November 2008.

SIAS President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. David Gerald said, “It is timely for SIAS to provide this Malaysia Day programme to investors. The current credit crunch and financial market meltdown has once again brought investment opportunities to investors. Stocks which are normally beyond the reach of investors have now become potential investment prospects. Both Singapore and Malaysia, in particular the Malaysian stock market, have good offerings for investors willing to take a mid to long term view on their investments for good returns.”

Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Dato’ Yusli Mohamed Yusoff said, ”Bursa Malaysia is a high yielding market as comparatively, we offer one of the highest dividend yields for investors in this region. As such, investors should consider investing in fundamentally good stocks which are aplenty on our exchange.”

Dato’ Yusli added that information-based investing should be emulated by every investor, especially under challenging market conditions. “Therefore, this Malaysia Day 2008 seminar is designed to offer an educational platform for investors to make better informed decisions. This seminar also allows us to showcase quality companies which contribute towards the attractiveness of Malaysia as an investment centre. To this end, we have the CMDF-Bursa Research Scheme (CBRS) where research reports on Malaysian stocks are posted on our website and are accessible for free,” Dato’ Yusli affirmed that Bursa Malaysia’s involvement in this seminar is an indication of the importance it attaches to retail investments from across the causeway.

Malaysia Day 2008 will feature profile presentations by CEOs of eight (8) select Malaysian public listed companies (PLCs) from various sectors such as industrial products, plantation, construction, properties, consumer products, trading services and finance. The featured companies are HELP International Corporation Berhad, Kossan Rubber Industries Berhad, LCL Corporation Berhad, Muhibbah Enginering (M) Berhad, Pelikan International Corporation Berhad, QL Resources Berhad, Sino Hua-An International Berhad and Bursa Malaysia Berhad.
