Bursa Malaysia All Geared Up For The Inaugural Shariah Investing Fair 2017

Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or “the Exchange”) under its Bursa Malaysia-i brand, will be organising the inaugural Shariah Investing Fair 2017 on 25 and 26 November 2017. Themed “Jom Labur Shariah”, the event aims to increase financial literacy and instil an investing culture among Malaysians, particularly in Shariah-compliant investment products. 

Bursa Malaysia-is a shariah-compliant investing platform introduced by Bursa Malaysia in September last year to cater to the increasing demand for shariah-compliant investment products. The two-day event held in Exhibition Hall 5, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) will be officiated by Minister of Finance II, Yang Berhormat Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani and it is expected to attract 10,000 visitors. 

Potential investors will have the opportunity to explore, gain knowledge and find products that suit their investment needs. Among the shariah-compliant investment products to be featured include stocks (i-stocks), shariah-compliant Exchange Traded Funds (i-ETFs), Real Estate Investment Trust (i-REITs) and Exchange Traded Bond and Sukuk (ETBS). 

Participants will also benefit from the Invest Talk series which will feature prominent speakers who will share their knowledge and investment tips in Shariah investing. The line-up of speakers include Dato’ Dr Nazri Khan, Chairman of Malaysian Association Technical Analyst and Vice-President and Head of retail research of Affin Hwang Capital; Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of K-Fiqh Sdn Bhd and Assistant Professor at the Kuliyyah of Economics; and Tuan Haji Asri, founder of Asri Ahmad Academy, remisier and certified technical analyst and social influencer of BursaMktplc. 

Other activities lined-up for participants include quizzes, lucky draws and children edutainment activities such as sand art and a colouring contest. In addition, Malaysia Children Entrepreneurship Orientation (MyCEO) will conduct a special talk for children on savings. 

The Shariah Investing Fair is supported by industry partners such as Islamic Participating Organisations, Islamic fund management companies, Islamic financial institutions, Takaful operators, regulatory bodies and government agencies, and Shariah-compliant public listed companies. The industry partners will be showcasing their products and services, as well as advisory services to cater to the needs and requirements of potential investors.
