Burgundy Monthly Report September 2010: Several Records In Finnish Equity Trading

  • The average daily turnover was EUR 116.7 (92.5) million, an increase of 26.2 percent.
  • The average number of trades per day was 13,636 (12,829), an increase of 6.3 percent.
  • The trading participant with the highest turnover was Handelsbanken with a turnover of EUR 1,074.9 (814.7) million.
  • The most traded instrument was Volvo B, with a turnover of EUR 203.2 (140.8) million, an increase of 44.3 percent.

“In September Burgundy’s average daily turnover for the Nordic countries was EUR 116.7 million, an increase of about 26.2 percent.

There were several records in Finnish equity trading in September: the average daily turnover was EUR 10.0 million (old record September 2009: EUR 5.1 million), the all-time high turnover in one day reached EUR 42.1 million on 9 September, (old record 5 February 2010: EUR 18.0 million) and the number of trades in one day reached 1,068 on 10 September (old record: 9 September 956 trades).

The total market turnover for Nordic equity trading increased in September, by about 13.7 percent. It was the first increase in the total market activity in five months. During this time Burgundy has increased its market share on the Nordic market each month, which also was the case in September.*
