Buenos Aires Futures Exchange Monthly Report For August 2000.

The Mercado a Término de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Futures Exchange) traded 23,506 contracts in August 2000 compared to a figure of 23,600 contracts in August 1999. Total volume for the first eight months of 2000 was 172,198 contracts, compared to 160,683 contracts in 1999.

In August 2000 18,346 futures contracts were traded, compared to 15,468 in 1999. There were 5,160 option contracts traded in 2000, compared to 8,132 in 1999.

Open interest on the last trading day of August 2000 was 30,098. Open interest for futures was 17,448 contracts and for options, 12,650.
