Novo Mercado and Levels of Corporate Governance
The IGC (Corporate Governance Index) closed September up 0.93%. It is composed of 83 companies: 35 of Novo Mercado and 48 of Level 1 and 2. These companies now represent 47% of BOVESPA’s total market capitalization, 55% of the total trading value, and 60.6% of trade volume on BOVESPA’s cash market. Last month, one new company joined Novo Mercado: on September 22, Medial Saude had its IPO.

Investors Groups
The monthly trading turnover was pushed once again by International Investors, who led transactions with a 34.43% stake against 33.84% in August. Institutional Investors ranked second with 28.75% compared to 28.77% registered in the previous month, followed by Individuals with 25.23% (against 25.03%); Financial Institutions, 9.42% (against 10.55%); Companies, 2.11%, (against 1.60%); and Other Groups, 0.07% (against a 0.21% stake).

Home Broker Stake
In September, the participation of Home Broker system in BOVESPA’s total result reached 6.57% and 20.33% in trade value and volume, respectively, against 6.91% and 21.71% in August. The system reached daily averages of 33,454 transactions worth BRL 248 million (against 35,149 trades worth BRL 267 million in the previous month). Currently provided by 53 brokerage houses, Home Broker registered 56,749 logins in the period. The average value of trade stood at BRL 7,400.
Trading Value
In September, BOVESPA turned over BRL 41.8 billion or USD 19.2 billion compared to BRL 50.3 billion in the previous month. The daily average stood at 85,376 worth BRL 2.1 billion or USD 962 million, compared to 83,972 trades worth BRL 2.2 billion registered in August. The most active stocks in terms of trading value were: Petrobras PN (BRL 6.43 billion); Vale R Doce PNA (BRL 2.74 billion); Usiminas PN (BRL 1.35 billion); Bradesco PN (BRL 1.33 billion); and Petrobras ON (BRL 1.21 billion).

Markets
Cash Market was responsible for 91.5% of the total value registered in September, followed by Forward Market (4.3%) and Options Market (4.2%). After Market amounted to 13,424 trades worth BRL 103,079,259.51 (against 18,152 trades worth BRL 153,293,173.85 registered in the previous month).
Ibovespa
The benchmark Ibovespa stock index closed September up 0.59% at 36,449 points, thus registering a 8.9% rise so far this year. The best performing stocks in the period were Telemar ON (+24.3%); Brasil T Par ON (+20.8%); Tim Part S/A ON (+16%); Telemig Part PN (+12%); and Klabin S/A PN (+11.7%), while the worst performing stocks were Eletropaulo PNB (-7.4%); ALL Amer.Lat UNT (-6.1%); Petrobras PN (-5.6%); Gerdau PN (-5.5%); and Gerdau Met. PN (-4.9%).

Other Indices
The following indices closed the month up: ITEL (+5.14% at 875 points); ISE (+1.48% at 1,191 points); IGC (+0.93% at 4,183 points); IEE (+0.86% at 11,968 points); INDX (+0.79% at 6,055 points); and ITAG (+0.77% at 5,758 points). On the other hand, these indices ended the month down: IBrX-50 (-0.27% at 5,258 points); IVBX-2 (-0.04% at 3,943 points) and IBrX-100 (-0.01% at 11,845 points).
Market Capitalization
In September, the market capitalization of BOVESPA-listed companies remained at BRL 1.27 trillion or USD 584 billion.

Fixed Income
In September, 4 FIDCs (Receivable Investment Funds) and 2 Corporate Bonds have started to be traded on BOVESPA Fix and SOMA Fix Markets. The trading value of BOVESPA fixed income markets turned over BRL 230,592,819.76 or USD 106,325,464.62 (against BRL 103,954,894.32 totaled in previous month). Out of this total, BRL 228,582,072.79 referred to FIDCs, BRL 1,855,274.52 to CRIs (Real Estate Receivable Certificates) and BRL 155,472.45 to Corporate Bonds.

BOVESPA Popularization Campaign
Since September/2002, the popularization campaign BOVESPA vai até Você (BOVESPA where you are) has stimulated the creation of 1,259 investment clubs. The campaign resulted in 18 new investment clubs in September this year, thus raising the number of new registrations in 2006 to 315. BOVESPA had listed a total of 1,563 clubs as of September 30. According to last data available (August), investment clubs totaled BRL 8 billion in net asset and 127,000 investors.
