BOVESPA's Monthly Bulletin: July 2007

International Investors
The net inflow of foreign investments in the Brazilian Stock Market accounted to BRL 17,857,724,314.00 (or USD 8.661.341.986.70) in 2007. This figure includes the purchases of international investors in the public offerings, which amounted to BRL 21,244,606,431.40 (or USD 10,462,468,737.70), and the net trading value at BOVESPA, which registered an outflow of BRL 3,386,882,117.00 (or USD 1,801,126,751.00), as of July 2007.

In July, international investors’ total purchase at BOVESPA was BRL 34,261,944,829.00 (or USD 18,222,055,405.00) and total sales of BRL 37,510,197,103.00 (or USD 19,957,665,222.00), totaling a net outflow of BRL 3,248,252,274.00 (or USD 1,735,609,727.00).

The International Investor’s participation in public offerings represented 73.4% of the total value of offerings in 2007, which accounted to BRL 28,948,560.899,70 billion (or USD 14,262,473,561.10 billion).

All these figures mentioned above include only IPOs which distribution and closure notice were published up to August 2.

Trading Value
In July, BOVESPA registered BRL 4.8 billion or USD 2.6 billion in terms of financial value daily average. The daily average reached a new record of 157,419 trades. For comparison purposes, June registered 141,093 trades as average with BRL 5.3 billion (or USD 2.7 billion) financial value traded.

In terms of the total value traded in July, BOVESPA turned over BRL 101.2 billion (or USD 53.8 billion) compared to BRL 105.2 billion (or USD 54.5 billion) in the previous month.

The most active stocks in terms of trading value were:

  • Vale R Doce PNA (BRL 9.5 billion or USD 5 billion);
  • Petrobras PN (BRL 9.1 billion or USD 4.8 billion);
  • Redecard ON (BRL 3.4 billion or 1.8 billion);
  • Bradesco PN (BRL 2.8 billion or USD 1.5 billion); and
  • Usiminas PNA (BRL 2.6 or USD 1.4 billion).



Investors Groups
The monthly trading turnover was pushed again by International Investors, who led transactions with a 35.52% stake against 35.61% in June. Institutional Investors ranked second with 29.03% compared to 26.92% registered in the previous month, followed by Individuals with 23.43% (against 19.98%); Financial Institutions, 9.47% (against 11.91%); Companies, 2.07%, (against 5.45%); and the Other group with 0.48% (against 0.12%).




Home Broker Stake
The Home Broker system reached new records in July:
  • total traded value, that amounted to BRL 15.7 billion
  • total number of trades registered 1.8 million
  • number of registered logins, that reached 132,895 this month.

The After Market had 49,550 trades and BRL 418,576,055.48 as financial value this month.

Market Capitalization
In July, BOVESPA’s market capitalization amounted to BRL 2.1 trillion or USD 1.13 trillion.



Novo Mercado and Levels of Corporate Governance
The 138 companies which by the end of July were listed on BOVESPA’s special levels of corporate governance represented 57.1% of the market capitalization, 67.9% of the trading value and 68.3% of BOVESPA’s number of trades in the cash market.

July registered 15 IPOs in the Special Listing Segments of Corporate Governance: 10 companies joined Novo Mercado (Tegma, Redecard, Invest Tur, Minerva, MRV, Guarani, Triunfo Part., Springs, Providencia and General Shopp; 4 companies joined the Level 2 of corporate governance (Kroton, ABC Brasil, Multiplan and Estácio Part.); and Banco Indusval joined the Level 1 of corporate governance.

Additionally, the Argentinean Company Banco Patagonia issued its Brazilian Depositary Receipts (BDRs) at BOVESPA, raising USD 260 million at BOVESPA in July.



Markets
The Cash Market was responsible for 92.7% of the total value traded in July, followed by the Options (4%) and Forward (3.3%) markets.
Ibovespa
The Ibovespa benchmark closed July down 0.3% at 54,182 points. This number represents a rise of 21.8% in local currency terms, from January to July 2007.

Brasil Telec PN (+15.47%); Brasil T Par ON (-22.76%);
Telemig Part PN (+12.94%) TAM S/A PN (-20.56%);
Vale do Rio Doce PNA (+9.26%); and Telemar ON (-17.19%); and
Sid Nacional ON (+8.93%). Natura ON (-16.45%).




Other Indices
The following indices closed the month up: IBrX-50 (+1.1% at 7,802), IBrX-100 (+1.1% at 17,697 points) and the IGC (+0.4% at 6.373).

The following indices closed the month down: ITAG (-0.1% at 8,400 points), ISE (-0.7% at 1,648 points), ITEL (-1.1% at 1,231 points), INDX (-1.6% at 9,085 points), IVBX-2 (-3.7% at 5,402 points), and IEE (-3.9% at 17,052 points).


Fixed Income
In July, 13 Corporate Bonds and 3 FDIC’s started to trade on BOVESPA Fix and SOMA Fix Markets. The trading value of BOVESPA fixed income markets turned over BRL 16,008,534.54 or USD 8,494,754.44 (against BRL 76,436,703.98 or USD 40,398,920.12 totaled in previous month). Out of this total, BRL 6,395,243.44 (or USD 3,405,243.44) referred to FIDCs (Receivable Investment Funds), BRL 2,387,211.33 (or USD 1,271,416.35) to CRIs (Real Estate Receivable Certificates) and BRL 7,226,079.77 (or USD 3,818,016.84) to Corporate Bonds.




Individual Investors
As of July 31, The Brazilian Clearing and Depository Corporation registered 278,305 individual investor custody accounts, against 255,775 in June.


BOVESPA Popularization Campaign
74 new investment clubs have registered with Bovespa in July. Since September 2002, the popularization campaign “BOVESPA Where You Are” has stimulated the creation of 1,762 investment clubs.

BOVESPA had a total of 1,931 clubs registered as of July 31. According to last data available (June/07), the investment clubs’ total assets amounted to BRL 12.8 billion, with 143,914 investors.
