Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) is to be included in the IBEX 35® as of 2nd July, following the decision taken by the IBEX 35® Technical Advisory Committee at its last meeting.
BME’s incorporation into the IBEX 35® index will take place after a six-month period during which the stock formed part of the IBEX MEDIUM CAP®. The applicable coefficient will be 100% and the number of shares, for the purpose of the index’s calculation, will be 83,615,558.
As of 2nd July BME will join the range of underlying assets for stock options and futures on MEFF, the Spanish options and futures market.
The IBEX 35® index is made up of the most liquid stocks traded on the Sistema de Interconexión Bursátil (SIBE), which is used as a benchmark at the domestic and international level and as an underlying asset for derivatives trading. It is, from the technical point of view, a price index, weighted by market capitalisation and adjusted by the free float of each of the index’s constituent.
Since last December BME has also become part of the Dow Jones Stoxx 600 as well as its size and sectoral subindices. The DJ Stoxx 600 index is designed by the company Stoxx, and it includes the 600 largest constituents in the DJ STOXX Total Market Index (TMI).
