Boerse Stuttgart Supports Grammar School In Sachsenheim - Boerse Stuttgart To Act As Sponsor For Business Forum

Date 09/12/2010

Boerse Stuttgart has made a donation to the grammar school Evangelisches Lichtenstern Gymnasium in Sachsenheim, Germany, in recognition of its efforts to create a bridge between the worlds of education and business. The school has received numerous accolades in this field, including the 2009 German Association of Employers' Award for Education, which is given for outstanding achievements in the teaching of business studies.

Together with a number of other sponsors, Stuttgart Stock Exchange has enabled the school to build a new pavilion that will house a range of forums on different topics. One of these, currently under construction at the grammar school in Sachsenheim, with the help of Boerse Stuttgart, is entitled Forum Ökonomie (business forum). Its purpose is to act as a platform for communication between pupils and representatives of the business world as well as disseminating theoretical knowledge and education.

Boerse Stuttgart places great emphasis on its work in the area of education. It organises numerous educational programmes for advisers, retail investors and school children and last year, for example, was also instrumental in setting up the Numeracy Foundation (Stiftung Rechnen).

Boerse Stuttgart's involvement in Sachsenheim shows a clear commitment to the region that goes beyond the issue of education. “As a stock exchange, we are not only a financial centre and an employer; we also take our social responsibility in the region very seriously,” observed Christoph Lammersdorf, CEO of Boerse Stuttgart Holding GmbH.

As the market leader for derivatives in Europe and for corporate bonds in Germany, Boerse Stuttgart is Europe's leading stock exchange for private investors. In Stuttgart investors can efficiently trade equities, derivatives, bonds, investment fund units and participation certificates at reasonable prices. With around 39 percent of order book turnover, Boerse Stuttgart is Germany's leading floor-based stock exchange, and in investment fund units trading it is the market leader among all floor-based markets. With a hybrid market model, that involves trading experts into the electronic trading process, the Stuttgart Stock Exchange guarantees extremely flexible and cost-effective order execution. For the greatest possible transparency and a high degree of investor protection the entire trading process is monitored by the Trading Surveillance Office, an independent stock exchange body. In order to provide investors with optimum information about the products on offer, Boerse Stuttgart organises a large number of educational activities for private investors, advisers and anyone else who is interested.
