BME Reshuffles Stock Market Segments

Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) has reorganized its stock market segments and will offer the companies integrating the Nuevo Mercado to apply for transferral to the primary market.

Both the economic rationale behind the creation of the Nuevo Mercado and, more specifically, the nature of the companies listed on this segment have changed over time. This has made it unnecessary to maintain the particular criteria governing trading in this type of securities.

The Nuevo Mercado is made up of the following companies: Indra, Abengoa, Zeltia, Jazztel, Avanzit, Amper, Tecnocom, Natraceutical, Puleva Biotech and Befesa Medio Ambiente.

Currently, the classification of companies listed on the Spanish stock market already allows their differentiation by market capitalisation, economic sectors, market statistics or other criteria based on the fundamental analysis of companies.

Inclusion of companies in the Nuevo Mercado segment has been compatible with their inclusion in other indices based on market capitalisation, namely, the IBEX 35®, IBEX Medium Cap® or the IBEX Small Cap®.
