BM&FBOVESPA hosted a market presentation on October 23rd, 2008, to discuss the new Euro and Japanese Yen Futures Contracts, which will be launched on 11/21/2008. During the event, lectures were given by BM&FBOVESPA’s Chief Products Officer, Murilo Robotton; BM&FBOVESPA’s Fixed Rate and FX Derivatives Officer, Álvaro Mendonça; and CME Group’s Research and Product Development Director, Julie Winkler.
In his opening statement, Mr. Robotton emphasized the importance of launching the new contracts – “these assets based on Euro and Japanese yen exchange rates are already traded and registered on OTC markets. We are very pleased to present the market the opportunity to trade these contracts in a safer and more transparent environment offered by the Exchange. This would not be possible without our partnership with CME Group.”
The new contracts represent the first joint product initiative between BM&FBOVESPA and CME Group. The price formation of these new contracts takes into account information (cross FX rates) of products from both exchanges.
