BM&FBOVESPA announces that due to technical problems affecting the GTS electronic platform (Global Trading System), trading activities in derivatives and commodities products on BM&F markets were halted at 5 p.m., this Thursday, June 18, 2009.
We ordered the market halt due to equipment failure in our network system. The technical team executed recovery procedures, such that a pre-opening session in the markets for U.S. dollars and interest rates took place between 6:23 and 6:25 p.m., and the trading session was extended until 6:45 p.m.
We note that the Exchange is currently working on improvements to the high availability solution with a view to reducing the possibility that similar future events will impact our trading system.
