In its last meeting, on October 6, the Deliberative Board for the BM&FBOVESPA Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) approved a change to the ISE portfolio’s term. It will now run from the first working day of January to the last working day of December every year. Previously the portfolio’s term extended from the first working day of December to the last working day of November the following year. The next, new life cycle for the portfolio will be from January 3, 2011 to December 30, 2011. The announcement of the companies and stocks that will make up each year’s ISE will continue to be in November. In 2010 it will occur on November 25.
The purpose of the new measure is so that market participants who use the ISE as a point of reference (share fund managers in particular) are granted more time to settle investments that are based on or mirrored in ISE. There will also be more information made available to the market, as the Exchange will announce three previews before the portfolio’s term ends. These previews will present the weighting of each stock in the Index and will be announced three times in December (the month prior to the new portfolio life cycle) on the first working day, the first working day after the 15 th and the last working day.
