The Brazilian Mercantile & Futures Exchange (BM&F), the São Paulo Stock Exchange (BOVESPA), the Brazilian Clearing and Depository Corporation (CBLC) and the National Association of Investment Banks (ANBID) promoted the Asian edition of BEST Brazil on the 6th, 8th, and 9th of November 2007. This year, in addition to Singapore and Hong Kong, the event was also held in Tokyo.
The BEST Brazil: Excellence in Securities Transactions events began in 2004, with a single event for 105 investors in New York City. By 2007, the events had reached a total of 739 participants, with road shows in the following major financial hubs: New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
During the Asian session, investors were addressed by Mario Gomes Toros, the Director of Monetary Policy at the Central Bank of Brazil; Sérgio Weguelin, the Director of CVM (Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission); Suli da Gama Fontaine, CVM Board Commissioner; Paulo Valle, the Deputy Secretary of the National Treasury and Otávio Ladeira de Medeiros, the General Coordinator for Public Debt Strategic Planning for the National Treasury. Representatives from BM&F, BOVESPA, CBLC, and ANBID were also present at these events and discussed investment opportunities in Brazil with the participants.
