BEST Brazil Ends 2007 With 739 Participants

The Brazilian Mercantile & Futures Exchange (BM&F), the São Paulo Stock Exchange (Bovespa), the Brazilian Clearing and Depository Corporation (CBLC), and the National Association of Investment Banks (ANBID) promoted the Asian edition of BEST Brazil on the 6th, 8th, and 9th of November 2007. This year, besides Singapore and Hong Kong, the event was also held in Tokyo.

The BEST – Brazil Excellence in Securities Transactions - initiative began in 2004, with a single event for 105 investors in New York City. By 2007, the BEST events have totaled 739 participants with road shows throughout the major financial hubs: New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt, Edinburgh, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

During the Asian events, investors were addressed by the Central Bank of Brazil’s director of Monetary Policy, Mario Gomes Toros; CVM’s (Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission) director, Sérgio Weguelin; CVM’s Board member, Suli da Gama Fontaine; the National Treasury’s general coordinator for Public Debt Strategic Planning, Otávio Ladeira de Medeiros; and the deputy secretary of the National Treasury, Paulo Valle. Representatives from BM&F, Bovespa, CBLC, and Anbid also participated in the events, discussing investment opportunities in Brazil.
