BATS 1000 Index Jumps 1.8% This Week

BATS Global Markets, a leading operator of securities markets in the U.S. and Europe, reports the BATS 1000®Index (Ticker: BATSK) rose 313.63 points, or 1.8%, this week to close at 18,198.90 as of the 4 p.m. ET market close today.

Technology and Communications led nine of the ten sectors that comprise the index higher for the week, followed by Alternative Resources and Energy. Exempt from the broad rally in the BATS 1000 Index was the Utilities sector, which ended the week little changed.

The BATS 1000 Index offers a listings-neutral, broad snapshot of the U.S. equities marketplace by tracking the performance of 1,000 securities classified in 10 important industry sectors. The 10 index sectors are adjusted to an equal weighting based on the current value of the index every June during an annual reconstitution process.
