This new feature will allow retail investors, who trade on the Internet, easy access to this kind or product via BIGonline, Portugal’s leading online trading platform. BIG is the first financial intermediary to feature a proprietary futures trading platform among its online offerings.
In order to reach retail investors, Euronext.liffe and BIG will also carry out a road show to explain the characteristics and benefits of futures trading to current and potential investors. Presentations will take place at key locations across Portugal – Lisboa, Cascais, Porto, Coimbra and Albufeira, in different FNAC, Bertrand and Almedina auditoriums – and admission is free of charge for those who pre-register through www.futuroslx.com.
Euronext.liffe’s Single Stock Futures (SSF), offer investors many opportunities to enhance the performance of their equity portfolios, in many circumstances providing an inexpensive, easy and efficient alternative to trading shares or other related products. Single Stock Futures are available for Portuguese stocks EDP, PTC, BCP, PTM, SON, BPI and Brisa. Along with SSF, it is also possible to trade Euronext.liffe’s PSI-20 index futures.
Carlos Rodrigues, CEO of BIG, commented, “We are excited about this initiative with Euronext.liffe, designed to re-launch futures trading associated with the Portuguese index and key Portuguese stocks. In addition to enhancing the trading experience of our existing and future clients, this effort fits very well with our strategy with respect to our target market, which is to simplify the access to more sophisticated trading instruments via an efficient platform and easily identifiable names.”
Miguel Athayde Marques, CEO of Euronext Lisbon, said, “We are very pleased to have BIG distributing our futures, as this is a means of getting to investors that we usually cannot access directly. This will also allow an easy access to Portuguese Single Stock Futures and futures on PSI 20, which may increase trading volumes. Meanwhile, the road show reflects our commitment to improve the knowledge of market players in general, and we hope it will attract the attention of people who usually do not think about investing on the stock exchange.”
