This week, San Francisco hosts the annual conference organized by the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the largest responsible investment initiative in the world. B3 participates in the panel on responsible investments, risk and opportunity in Latin America through its Media Relations, Sustainability, Communications, and Social Investment director, Sonia Favaretto.
The PRI in Person Conference will launch the first of a series of three reports on the integration of ESG factors. The first report, from the Americas, includes the B3 case study. The second report will include study cases from Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the third, study cases from the Asia-Pacific (APAC). Produced by the PRI and the CFA Institute, the reports will bring together more than 30 case studies.
In the document, B3 reports on how it advances the ESG agenda through the Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) and the Report or Explain Initiative for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), providing an overview of the challenges and lessons learned over the past few years. With this participation, B3 reiterates its commitment to promoting responsible investment in the Brazilian capital markets.
Presentation
During the PRI in Person Conference, Sonia will present the business opportunities offered by B3 within the sustainability agenda and will talk about the importance of partnerships to stimulate the sector’s growth. "To B3 it is very important to promote the social, environmental and corporate governance (ESG) agenda. Products are key to developing the capital markets on the agenda. For example, if we compare the ISE with B3’s main index – the Ibovespa – we can see that the sustainability index performs better and offers less volatility,” explains Sonia.
The initiative reaffirms B3’s commitment to responsible investment. It was the world's first exchange from an emerging market to join the PRI in 2010 in the service provider category. B3 is also a member of the SDG Advisory Committee, which is dedicated to building mechanisms to include SDGs in investor decision-making
