Börse Berlin Concentrates On Realignment - Turn Of The Year 2007/2008 Marks The Start Of New Business Fields

Date 07/01/2008

At Börse Berlin the turn of the year 2007 is marked by the strategic realignment. The direction had already been set by the majoritarian takeover of London-based Equiduct on 25th September 2007. The implementation of the new market model is planned for the coming months.

In a first step the calculation and dissemination of the VBBO (volume weighted best bid and offer) will commence in April 2008. The VBBO will be calculated and published for around 800 of the most liquid European stocks in the first instance. This demonstrably best price according to the specifications of the European financial market guideline MiFID will be determined through simulated partial executions on the reference markets. Unlike competitors, Börse Berlin will include real time prices of all important reference markets in the price finding process of the best price (VBBO). The VBBO will be disseminated as market information from April on. With the start of the new trading model from midyear on, the VBBO will be the best price for trading.

Jörg Walter, CEO of Börse Berlin: „The year 2008 is the big chance for Börse Berlin. We shape our future actively with competitive offers. The implementation of the European financial market guideline MiFID will intensify competition between the exchanges drastically.” Artur Fischer, CEO of Börse Berlin: „Together with our London based partner Equiduct we are in a position to address customers in all European financial centers with convincing products.”
