August 2006 - Euronext Key Indicators - Busiest August Ever For Cash And Derivatives Markets - Cash Markets: 15.5 Million Transactions, +21% YoY, +41.6% YTD - Derivatives Markets: 59 Million Contracts Traded, +38% YoY, +25% YTD

Cash products

15.5 million transactions were completed on Euronext’s cash markets in August 2006, up 21% on August 2005, making this month the busiest August ever. In total, more than 146 million transactions have been registered since the beginning of the year, up 41.6% on the same period in 2005, representing a record level at this time of the year. The year-to-date daily average stands at 859,000.

Shares

14.8 million transactions were registered in August 2006, bringing the total number of transactions since the beginning of the year to more than 140 million, up 41.4% on 2005.

Initial Public Offerings

There were four more IPOs with EUR 1.6 billion raised on all Euronext markets in August 2006, bringing the total number of new listings since the beginning of the year to 84 and the total amount of capital raised to EUR 10.4 billion. Those 84 IPOs represent an additional market capitalization of EUR 47.2 billion. Both the total number and value of new listings so far this year are at their highest since 2001.

NextTrack & NextWarrants

Year-to-date transactions were up 122.8% on NextTrack and up 67.1% on NextWarrants, which includes warrants and certificates, making the first eight months of the year the busiest ever for these products.

Derivatives products

Euronext.liffe, the international derivatives business of Euronext, recorded its busiest August ever, trading 59 million futures and options contracts during the month, up 38% on August 2005. In the year to August, 498 million futures and options contracts were traded, up 25% on the same period in 2005.

Euronext.liffe’s Short-Term Interest Rate products showed the strongest performance. Over 35 million contracts traded in August 2006, up 62% on August 2005. Over 260 million contracts have been traded in the year-to-date.

Equity products traded over 21 million contracts in August 2006. Both individual equity products and equity index products are up 28% year-to-date.

Commodity products traded 808,000 contracts in August 2006, and 6.5 million year-to-date, up 13% on 2005.
