Aquis Exchange Gets UK Regulator’s Approval To Launch Equities Market

Date 05/11/2013

On 4 November 2013, Aquis Exchange, which plans to organise a pan-European equities trading market, has received approval from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to operate as a Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF).

In August 2013, the Warsaw Stock Exchange and Aquis Exchange entered into an agreement whereby WSE will acquire a stake in Aquis Exchange representing 30% of the total vote at the Aquis Exchange General Meeting, the right to a 30% share of the company’s profit, and the right to nominate two representatives to the Aquis Exchange Board of Directors.

“It is with great satisfaction that we have welcomed the authorisation for Aquis Exchange to launch its operations. We are certain that the innovative solutions to be proposed by Aquis will introduce a new quality to the exchange industry while WSE will become an active participant of changes on the European financial markets. Diversification of revenue sources and strengthening of WSE’s brand and position on the international markets together with consolidation of WSE’s role as the CEE financial hub are the pillars of our consistently pursued strategy,” said Adam Maciejewski, President of the Management Board of WSE.
