Amsterdam Exchanges - Sharp Rise In Premium Turnover In Equity Options

September was a very good month at Euronext Amsterdam’s options exchange. Premium turnover in equity options was up 82% on the same month last year, and the trading volume in equity options rose by 34% in September, representing an increase of 23% for the first nine months of the year. In total, more than 42.2 million contracts have been traded on the options exchange this year. The agricultural futures market saw a healthy interest in potatoes, with trading volume in potato futures up more than 35% compared with September 1999.

During September, the value of turnover in shares at the stock exchange of Euronext Amsterdam amounted to ? 122 billion, representing a rise of almost 80%. So far this year, almost 19 million transactions have been concluded, up more than 72% on the same period last year. The primary market also had a good month. The amount of shares admitted to listing on the stock market was up more than 177% compared with September 1999.
