Alberta Securities Commission Named One Of Alberta’s Top 70 Employers For 2016

Date 03/02/2016

The Alberta Securities Commission’s diverse and meaningful work, healthy approach to work life balance and competitive total benefits package has set the company apart as an employer of choice for the second consecutive year.

“Employees are attracted to the uniqueness of what the ASC has to offer,” says Tom Cotter, interim Chair and Chief Executive Officer for the ASC. “Working with many different disciplines provides variety and a broad exposure to interesting issues and projects.  Further, in pursuing our dual mandate of protecting investors and promoting a healthy and stable capital market, employees have a real sense of purpose;  they are making a meaningful contribution to Alberta’s capital market.”

The ASC’s  healthy approach to work-life balance, first-rate facilities and competitive total benefits package are also key factors in employee retention and job satisfaction.  The lifestyle that the ASC offers balances career growth while supporting the ability to focus on family or other pursuits outside of work.

The annual Alberta’s Top 70 Employers competition recognizes Alberta employers that are frontrunners when it comes to offering exceptional places to work and progressive, forward-thinking programs.

Employers are evaluated using the following criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

The ASC is the regulatory agency responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators, the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.
