ADSM Hosts The First Meeting Of Surveillance Teams In The Region - ADSM Is The First Market To Use The SMARTS Surveillance System

Abu Dhabi Securities Market (ADSM) hosted yesterday Monday 26 November 2007 the Surveillance Team subsidiary of the Control and Law Enforcement, one of the committees of Arab Stock Union, headed by Mr. Ismail Al Hajaj Manager of the Surveillance & Marketing Control in the Jordanian Securities Authority, in addition to a number of members representing eight stock markets in the region. The purpose of the visit is to view the electronic control system implemented by ADSM throughout the trading sessions in practical as well as to identify closely the experience of ADSM in the use of electronic control system Smarts.

For his part, Mr. Ismail Al Hajaj Head of the team that this is the first meeting of the team, which shall last for two days in Abu Dhabi during the period 25 – 26 November 2007. This comes in the framework of the efforts of the Arab Stock Union to exchange experiences and benefit from the practical experiences of Arab markets, which supports growth and strengthen its position among other markets. That was the reason we chose ADSM to be at the top of our meeting agenda in order to brief members of the team to ADSM experience in the use of the electronic control system, as well as to enable them transfer what has been found and encourage their markets to stimulate the use of such electronic systems.

Since the evolution of the markets in terms of higher trading volume in the region is no longer possible to control through traditional human-dependent, but require more advanced and developed electronic systems. Moreover, ADSM has has developed a good reputation and became well positioned in the region throughout applying the best international practices.

On the other hand, Mr. Ghannam Al Mazrouie, Manager of Market Operations (MOS) & Surveillance in ADSM that the market puts potential practical and technical services available to benefit the financial markets in the region, as well as the MOS department is doing its best in trying to benefit the region's financial markets through exchanging practical experiences which serves the progress of Arab and Gulf markets in general, expressing his hope that the team would achieve the desired goals from such meetings.
