Standard & Poor’s will make the following change in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50 Index effective after the close of trading on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007:
Subject to shareholder and court approval of a scheme of arrangement under which Wesfarmers Limited will acquire Coles Group Limited, Babcock & Brown Limited (Australia, SEDOL: B02WTT5, GICS Code: 40201020) will replace Coles Group Limited (Australia, SEDOL: 6209908, GICS Code: 30101040). Coles Group Limited will be removed from the S&P/ASX All Australian 50 at this time.
The Coles Group Limited/Wesfarmers Limited scheme will also have the following impact in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50:
- Wesfarmers Limited (Australia, SEDOL: 6948836, GICS Code: 20105010) will change its shares to 558,459,519. This is due to the scrip offer under which Wesfarmers Limited proposes to acquire Coles Group Limited
- Wesfarmers Limited will change GICS Code from 20105010 (Industrial Conglomerates) to 30101040 (Hypermarkets & Super Centers).
- Wesfarmers Limited will issue Wesfarmers price protected shares (Wesfarmers PPS), which will enter the S&P/ASX All Australian 50 as a separate security for an interim period until the December rebalance. On inclusion in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50, Wesfarmers PPS shares will be 170,389,519, with an investable weight factor of 1. Wesfarmers PPS will also have a GICS Code of 30101040.
Babcock & Brown Limited is an investment company with activities including real estate, infrastructure, and project finance, operating leasing, structured finance, and corporate finance. On inclusion in the S&P/ASX All Australian 50 its shares will be 292,862,135 with an investable weight factor of .84.
