ACER Calls On TSOs To Ensure That Adequate Processes To Safeguard The Quality Of The Information Published On The Transparency Platforms Are Implemented

Date 31/05/2018

ACER informed today the participants of the Florence Forum that it has been alerted about a number of incidents of incorrectly published wholesale energy product information by Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Incorrect publication could reduce transparency and trust in energy markets among market participants.

In this context, ACER recalled that REMIT (EU Regulation on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency) prohibits disseminating information which gives or is likely to give false or misleading signals as to the supply of, demand for, or price of wholesale energy products where the disseminating person knew, or ought to have known, that the information was false or misleading.

TSOs are major wholesale energy market information providers to facilitate trade. This is why it is vital that TSOs have adequate processes in place to safeguard the quality of the information they publish, for instance on the pan-European Transparency Platforms by ENTSOG and ENTSO-E. These safeguards shall include strict quality control processes and mechanisms for a timely and transparent rectification of information.
