July 6th marked a new record in the 40 year history of the Iranian capital market. The main index of the Tehran Stock Exchange (TEPIX) gained 590 points, demonstrated a 4.7 percent increase in one single day and reached 12,512 units. The TSE Price and Dividend Index (TEDPIX) which calculates both the price movement and market return also jumped up 6.2 percent to 47,017 units; a 2,925 points increase.
The TSE overall index started a bullish trend as from the beginning of current year following its downward trend of 2005. Unlike global markets, Iranian capital market has now gained around 30 percent return for the first half of 2008 which is amongst the top performers in the capital markets worldwide.
Market Capitalization of the TSE also hit USD 67 billion for the first time in the history of Iranian capital market.
