4 New ETFs On The Spanish Stock Exchange - The New Funds Will Contribute To A Broader Range Of ETFs On The Spanish Market, Which Totals 26

Date 18/02/2008

The Spanish stock exchange will tomorrow start trading 4 new ETFs issued by Lyxor Asset Management: Lyxor ETF New Energy, Lyxor ETF Japan, Lyxor ETF DJ Stoxx Select Dividend 30 and Lyxor ETF Leveraged DJ Eurostoxx 50.

The new funds will enable investors to trade in leading sectors such as renewable energy, cover new geographic zones, such as Japan, invest in the European companies with the highest dividend yield and increase the return on their investment by using leverage.

The Spanish stock market’s ETF segment was created on 20 July 2006. Following the listing of the new ETFs it currently comprises 26 funds. BME looks forward to broadening the range of ETFs by including new funds on other underlying indices, thus increasing the range of financial products offered to the financial community.

Exchange traded funds (ETFs) are fund-share hybrid investment vehicles that combine the best of both worlds in a single stock exchange transaction: the diversification of a fund’s portfolio and the flexibility that share trading offers. These instruments have opened up a wide range of investment opportunities for retail and institutional investors as they can gain exposure to different countries, sectors and asset classes with a single stock exchange transaction, in real time and at a lower cost than that of other investment vehicles.
