4 NEW ETFS On The Spanish Stock Exchange - BME Broadens And Diversifies The Product Range Available To Investors

The Spanish stock exchange will soon list 4 new ETFs issued by managing entities BBVA Gestión and Santander Asset Management. The listing folloes the approval, last Friday, by the Spanish stock market regulator -CNMV- of these listed products’ prospectuses.

On Thursday, July 26th, the ACCIÓN FTSE LATIBEX TOP ETF and the ACCIÓN FTSE LATIBEX BRASIL ETF, both managed by BBVA Gestión, will be listed on the ETF segment.

The two ETFs track the FTSE LATIBEX TOP and the FTSE LATIBEX BRASIL indices. The FTSE LATIBEX TOP, which started to be disseminated on 23 February 2004, is a tradable index for euro-denominated Latin American equities and is made up of the 15 most capitalised and liquid stocks in LATIBEX. Currently the FTSE LATIBEX TOP comprises Mexican, Brazilian and Chilean stocks. The FTSE LATIBEX BRASIL, launched in September 2006, is the only tradable index denominated in euros covering Brazilian securities.

On 1 August the funds FLAME ETF IBEX MID CAPS and the FLAME ETF IBEX SMALL CAPS, managed by Santander Asset Managament, will be listed on the market.

Tradable indices IBEX MEDIUM CAP® and IBEX SMALL CAP®, designed to gauge the performance of medium and small capitalisation companies, started to be calculated and disseminated on 1 July 2005. These indices include the top 50 stocks adjusted by free-float, once the IBEX 35® stocks are excluded.

The Spanish stock market’s ETF segment was created on 20 July 2006 and it currently lists 8 funds. BME is looking forward to completing its ETF range by listing ETFs on other equity and fixed income indices as well as ETFs listed on other stock markets, thus broadening the range of financial products the company offers to the financial community.
